PCWorld.com - Threat Alert: Spear Phishing
I wanted to take some time to go over the Topic of Phishing. Somebody who will remain nameless opened an email containing a phrase to "verify info click this link" That link loaded a Spyware program to track keystrokes. Upon signing into their online banking the Hacker was able to track down a password, change it and transfer money from the account to another account using the Banks online transfer feature. Keep in mind if you have never used online banking in the past, this could also be used to access online banking none the less.
The title link sends you to an article explaining the process in more detail at PC World.com
Upon running several spyware detectors, such as Lavasoft’s Adaware, Spybot S&D, Microsoft Anti-spyware Beta and Hijack This I was able to detect several ".exe" programs that yielded little google search information. I have yet to discover any information of one in particular item, "oham.exe."
What do I suggest, when surfing the Internet be careful of emails. Open only those that are known friends or contacts and please never click on a link to verify any account information from any financial source.

Man 1, Bank 0
Patrick Combs deposited a "sweepstakes" check he got in the mail, thinking it wouldn't cash. But it did, all $95,093.35 of it.Quite a lengthy read.
It took me about an hour to read, but I found it to be great. I was laughing for quite some time. Just find the blue link at the end of every page to continue.

Qwest puts its name on downtown Boise sports arena
The Bank Of America Centre has a new name, Qwest Arena. No more B of A Centre which is going to take some getting used too. The Idaho Steelheads and Idaho Stampede will both be housed in the building this winter. Maybe Qwest will run a wireless network in the building so fans can hook into the web via their Laptops like at SBC Park in San Francisco.

PCWorld.com - Consumer Watch: Tips on Picking a Future-Proof PC
In this article the author Anna Kandra gives some tips on what to expect about the future release of Windows new Operating System, Vista. She goes in depth as to what to look for in hardware specs. This is extremely important in that PC's hardware will be based on the Windows XP platform. Most important is not to undercut any features if you ever expect to upgrade to the new Operating system. In addition, Kandra fully expects that new programs will be developed for the 64 bit processors that both AMD and Intel are currently promoting. Finally, she warns not to settle for on-board graphics.
Articles like this are helpful to make customers aware of what to expect in the coming years. Granted Windows Vista is still a testing stage, but already it is having a direct affect on consumers buying habits. In my opinion buying a computer with Windows XP is not going to be the worse thing in the world. The closer the time comes for Windows Vista release the more suppliers will want to make room for computers with this operating system thus making Windows XP machines expendable. Unless by some miracle Windows Vista is perfect (LOL YAH RIGHT) inevitability it will take one to two Service Packs to make Vista usable. That will take a few years, so it is not unrealistic to expect that Windows XP will be usefully up to 2010 if not beyond.
The big question is should one begin to upgrade to another computer. I would say yes!!! 64 bit processors have been around for a year so they are tested; Windows XP has its 3rd service pack on its way. In addition, Apple and Intel's announced partnership increases competition in the Windows world. Will I be an early adopter of Windows Vista? I answer that with a yes unless I turn to Apple, but that is a whole other story. Will I give up Windows XP? Heck no!, 99% of my best software runs on it. In the end read Kandra's article and be specific in what you want out of your next PC or do I say even Apple.

Abused Boise Child Chooses future Parents.
Child abuse case in Ada County Boise, Idaho (AP)
A seven-year-old boy was at the center of a Boise courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degreepossible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Boise State Broncos whom the judge firmly believes are not capable of beating Bulldogs or (OSU) Beavers let alone children.

- I added a subscriber chicklet to the site, which show the number of RSS subscribers to the blog.
- From here on out there will be 16kbs, 32kbs and 64kbs download of the Audio Cast. This is so those with slower connections aren’t downloading such big files.

Woman files Counterclaim against the RIAA
A woman from Oregon filed a counterclaim the RIAA for illegal computer trespass in a "Jane Doe" lawsuit they started against her.
This is an important suit because the woman, Tanya Anderson is stating that the company trespassed when gathering information on her computer, which has been the major complaint of the RIAA tactics. If she wins this would serve as a major blow to the RIAA lawsuit's.
