this is an audio post - click to play

About 27 min long so download at own expense!!!!!!!!!

News:

We adopted a dog from the Idaho Humane Society last week.  Of course pictures are already posted.

President Bush visited Boise, ID this past week.  I was just across the freeway when he landed and took off via Air Force One.

Stephanie Started School this week.

Also to mention, one week until the #18 Boise State opens the college football season in Athens, Georgia versus the #13 Georgia Bulldogs.  The Game will be live on ESPN September 3rd at 5:30 eastern time.  Oh, by the way Boise State has only lost one game on the ESPN networks.

My Top Ten Computer Programs:

Geek To Me:

Call For Help TV is returning to the United States, oddly enough on the Network that canceled the show.

Of course this week, Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta is available for download.

I am listening to a new Podcast, Security Now! With Steve Gibson.  I play a 4 min blurb of Gibson’s take on what the Zotob virus was/is, luckily it was aimed towards Windows 2000 not XP.

Site News:

If you noticed we got Blog Spamed; apparently you can get spammed on your Blog through comments.  When I posted the item about IE7 about 6 Spam comments were sent informing me or us about their product.  However, I was able to put and end to that by clicking an option in Blogger called Word Verification.  So if you post a comment you have to verify the verification word.

Added to the play list on the radio blog.

An Extra:

Finally the RIAA’s web site got hacked.  Here is a funny blurb about the hack, from the Techphile Podcast, as well as rant.

Free Download Internet Explorer 7.0 BETA 1

Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta

"The latest version of the world's most popular Web browser has been released for technical evaluation, feedback, and testing by software and Web site developers."

So basically this is Microsoft's attempt to copy Mozilla's Firefox. I have downloaded it and so far I am not impressed with the RSS reader, mainly because it doesn't recognize this site's RSS. I will do a little more tweaking and hopfully it will become better.

You can download it by clicking on here, but you must install Win Rar software to unzip the file.

5 bucks a gallon for gas? Expert sees it in 2006

If you think all this flirting with $3-a-gallon gas is already a pain in the pocketbook, brace yourself.

Oil expert Craig Smith predicts gas prices will skyrocket next year, jumping to five bucks a gallon.

It cost me 30 bucks this week to fill up the Grand Am and over 50 bucks for the truck. If it gets any higher I may not be able to make it to work. If it goes higher that would be 400 for gas and 400 for daycare a month, I just assume stay home.

Audio Blog Cast #8 and Notes

this is an audio post - click to play

Family News:

Visit to Pocatello Aug 6th, 7th and 8th. Spent some time camping at Big Springs. Jessica had a birthday party in Pocatello (not Boise oops). Left Jessica in Poky, Got Car fixed and installed dinning room floor.

I tested an open Wi-Fi theory. Was able to connect to several open signals. Is connecting to unprotected Wi-Fi legal?

Nathan and Amore (sorry if I spelled that wrong) use Skype to save on phone bills.

Party for Jessica in Boise on this coming Sunday.

Got a new schedule change and thanks from my bosses.

News and Geek:

Microsoft gives up on upgrade ban

Microsoft gives up on upgrade ban

Click on the link for the whole story. It was really to simple, Microsoft in its wisdom was calling a bluff hoping to get people to pay 2 to 3 hundred for their Operating System. When in reallity they have no way of stopping anybody from pirating their software.

Quick Update for You.

So no audio blog this week, haven’t gotten around to getting it done. With that said I will still let you know what is going on. This week we are heading down to Pocatello. We will first be doing some camping with my folks at Big Spring. Then heading back on Sunday to Pocatello to celebrate Jessica’s Birthday at Cindy and Steve’s place.

On a personal not I will start my new shift at work from 9:30 to 6:30. So that will be nice. I will be able to come home and be able to get some things done at night. These late shifts are not so good.

I will be getting the audio blog out next week around Tuesday or so. For most of you we will see you this weekend. So I will have some news stories in the works. For what it is worth some people have said I have a good voice for this and to keep it up. I also have been sending some audio to some other Pod Casters and I have gotten the impression that they may be playing them. I will keep you posted. Anyway talk at you later.
